2000 FiLM BiTCH Awards
-Part Two-
Technical
Awards. Plus Diva, Villian, & Sexpot of the Year
02/09/01
-winners in blue
(If
it was close -runner up also highlighted)
NOTE
#1:
I normally do not change my awards once posted but two mistakes were made
in the initial posting (1/29) involving costume design and original song.
I try to see everything before I list my awards and if I see it after I chalk
it up to poor timing. (2/2) Corrections have been made in these two categories
due to unusual circumstances.

Fun
period. Special kudos to the costumes for Penny Lane.
|
Gorgeous.
Evocative. Alternating between ornate and simple.
|
No
one looked silly or cheesy in sandals and skirts. Impressive.
|
Just
breathtaking. Perfectly suited to the characters and the milieu.
|
Historically
accurate to time period as well as a touch theatrical.

I apologize for the incorrect post of this category earlier. I was using
a template rather from my contenders and screwed up.
random note: I would have liked to include X-Men but it did not deserve it. One can only pray that future costume designers will not adhere so strictly to the formula set back in 1989 with Batman and reconfirmed with The Matrix last year. The black leather thing --- it's played out. Let's show some imagination people. |

I
will admit up front that this is always a tricky category for me to
choose because it's very hard to pay attention to the music unless it
is way too much (Gladiator, The Gift) or jarringly out of place or you
are exposed to it outside of the theater as well. I wish I could truly
listen to them all. Of my choices here I am confident that three of
them (Dancer, Tiger, & Requiem) deserve awards -no question... and
I would fight for them in any discussion of excellent scoring. The other
two I'm more iffy on but I enjoyed . I also liked Quills and
Before Night Falls. If anyone knows of a good way to hear dozens
of scores without plunking down $17 for each please Email
me.

Looks
innocent but the color saturation and the tagline and everything seethe
with impurity and even a little menace. Love it!
|
Simple
gorgeous evocative image. It's the European poster of course. In America
we got a series of photoshop'ed movie star faces.
|
The
European poster. Great to see illustrations for posters. And one as
bold as this. Awesome.
|
Stark.
Graphic. Serious. They ruined it later with the standard movie star
faces plastered across it in boring triangular formation.
|
Gives
you a great sense of the film's mood with its collaged scrapbook feel.
It's all about the memory of it.
