Nothing much to say on these other than -read what David Poland wrote since these are obviously politically minded votes. How else to explain the absence of Before Sunrise... which is clearly an indie favorite this year and is the sequel to a seminal indie work?
Weird.
The scary thing about the Best Actor category is that it's actually oddly plausible as the exact lineup for Oscar (albeit with Jamie Foxx in a different role). Now, it won't happen exactly like this but how often is it even semi feasible? Big winners here? The real indie films that need the exposure and managed impressive nomination tallies: Primer, Brother to Brother. Sideways and Kinsey will use this as an Oscar platform but there are those who believe that an IFP triumph can actually damage a significant Oscar run. We shall see.
