Costume Design -Final Predictions
01/20The Costume Designers Guild announced on the 17th. They don't correlate with the eventual Oscar nominees as much as other guilds tend to do --maybe because they have three separate categories. But I've made a sudden switch to La Vie En Rose. They've never nominated Marit Allen who has had a long enduring design career in Hollywood and she died this year. I'm guessing a posthumous nomination... But it's easy to see either of the westerns (Yuma / Jesse James) knocking out one of the showier feminine efforts... there's usually some balance here. But I can't decide which film should go. The CDG ignored Hairspray but it had a big expensive Oscar campaign and the costumes are a ton o' fun. Will Oscar correct that oversight?
