Best Costume Design - July 8th Predictions
nomination total reflect this category only

07/8 Minor adjustments and Chéri moving to 2009 freeing up a spot

06/11
I'm betting on 1950s prestige, royalty-porn, a chronological conundrum (Benjamin Button) and a double dose of the 1920s with two of Hollywood's great beauties (Pfeiffer & Jolie) representing Paris and America

04/01 Certain eras and certain designers are favored in this category but it's difficult to know what they'll respond to. They're a pleasingly difficult-to-predict group. But I'm going with the queen of the cateogry Powell, plus the long time span (different decades) of Benjamin Button, the dependable beauty of Baz Luhrmann pictures (Australia), Connecticut in the late 50s for Revolutionary Road and Chen Kaige's opera world biopic Mei Lanfang ...it might not get released --you never know with foreign films --but if it does, it has a good shot in this category
