Actors of the "Aughts"
2000-2005

The following list was compiled in February 2006 using a complex mathematical formula [snort] involving number of films, clarity of obsession, quality of work, and other *undefinables* that influence the way this film fanatic sees them even though the list is meant to reflect January 2000 through December 2005 only (*undefinables such as previous filmographies and other extracurricular influences like awards show appearances, publicity persona, and in some cases tv & stagework)

I am a list-a-holic. In order to not be entirely overwhelmed when it comes times for the Greatest of the Decade lists in 2010 (Hey, don't knock me for not planning ahead) I've started my actor spreadsheets early... You know how I do. The Actresses were so honored a few months back. Again, this list is unlikely to match what the official one in 2010. But I thought it might be an interesting timestop. In less than five years some of the men named in the following list may well go the way of Russell Crowe (throwing phones, being an all purpose a**hole), some may suddenly see roles evaporate (tremendous competition you know), some may become superstars (particularly those in their 30s. That's the magic hour for the men. They make them wait longer than the actresses) and some who look good to go now? It might all be down hill from here.

The following list is my view of the most valuable players of the Aughts (Based on the 500+ films I've seen from this decades' releases). It is not intended to reflect anything other than my own moviegoing experience --so don't freak if your favorites, or a box office star are not near the top. This is NOT an "all time" list.)

If someone you think is great is not listed it might be because:
1. I'm intrigued but I didn't see enough of their work (Ejiofor. etc...)
2. They spent too little time on screen in favor of TV (Futterman, etc...)
3. Haven't been in many movies i wanted to see even if I dig them (Eccleston, etc...)
4. They've been sitting this decade out for the most part (Fat, Rylance, etc...)

5. The love faded because the work aint what it used to be (Zahn, Spacey, etc...)
6. I just don't love them. I know everyone else does (Levy, Firth, Hanks, etc...)
7.
I just don't like them at. all. (Affleck, Gibson, etc...)

And now ... my rough overview of the 100 men who made 1000 of my hours this decade extra enjoyable.
